BportBeats (Ben Portner) is a Producer, Vibraphonist, Pianist and Educator. He works as a sync producer and his music has been featured on Netflix, MTV and BET.
Throughout high school BPort played with the late Willie Aikens quartet at Spruill’s and the Jazz St. Louis All Stars on vibraphone and drums. He was also an artist resident for the illustrious Betty Carter Jazz Ahead Residency at the Kennedy Center.
BPort attended the New School for Jazz in New York City, on scholarship, where he had the opportunity to study with Stefon Harris, Aaron Parks, Reggie Workman, Ben Street, Lawrence Fields, Rudolph Palmer, Frank Locrasto, Tommy Crane, Andrew Cyrille, Charlie Persip, Glenn Zaleski, Peter Schlamb and Matt Brewer. He also had the opportunity to tour with jazz ensembles in Switzerland and the Netherlands.
BPort attended graduate school at Webster University receiving a Masters in Composition. Studying under Kim Portnoy, BPort learned the fundamentals of large group arranging and orchestration, and graduated with honors writing three big band pieces and a string quartet. In 2016 Bport orchestrated parts for the Curtis Mayfield concert with the St. Louis Symphony.
During his time in St. Louis BPort worked as an adjunct professor for Vatterott College’s Extreme Institute by Nelly; teaching music theory, Pro Tools, and beat-making on FL Studio. He also worked as a music director for congregation Kol Rinah where he helped lead Friday night services.
In 2024 he interned at Shock City Studios and studied under Chief Engineer Sam Maul. He also worked at Phat Buddha Studio as an Ableton teacher. Currently Bport puts most of his time into sync compositions collaborating with his partner Remrod.
